Airbus A300

Airbus A 300 is a widebody aircraft launched by Airbus in the year of 1972. Airbus A300 is the first airliner created by Airbus. It was the first ever widebody aircraft with two engines in the world. The production of Airbus A 300 was ceased from July 2007.After its entry into service the Airbus A300 was a progressive carrier and created designs of later subsonic airliners. Airbus A300 has superior wings with an advanced airfoil section which enhanced it to perform economically. The flight controls were aerodynamically progressive and efficient. The fuselage was 222-inch in diameter. The structure of Airbus A 300 was made of metal billets which helped in reduction of the weight. Airbus A 300 aircraft is the first aircraft to have wind shear guard. The autopilots were capable enough to fly the airliner to landing from climb-out. The braking system was controlled electrically.

In the later stage A 300 aircraft has automated flight engineer, a novel breakthrough in the aviation industry. Other features were flight instruments of glass cockpit, high use of composites, fuel shifting to control the center-of-gravity and wingtip fences for improved aerodynamics. The Airbus A 300 was first bought by Indian Airlines. Other airlines which bought Air A300 aircraft are Pan Am, Korean Air, Japan Air Systems, Singapore Airlines, Thai Airways International, Philippine Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, China Airlines, Garuda Indonesia, Trans Australia Airlines, Pakistan International Airlines and other airlines. The length of Airbus A300 is 54.08 meter, height is 16.62 meter, and fully loaded range is 6,670 km and 2,950 in A300-600F.

There are many variants of Airbus A300. One is A300B1 which could accommodate 259 passengers and can carry 132,000 kg of weight maximum. It was powered by two engines of General Electric CF6-50A. Another is A300B2 which entered in service in 1974 with Air France. It was powered by Pratt & Whitney JT9D. There are three models of this variant, the A300B2-100 which has a MTOW of 137 metric ton, A300B2-200 with MTOW of 142 metric ton and A300B2-300. A 300B4 has more fuel capacity. The different models of A300-B4 are A300B4-100, A300B4-200, A300B4-200FF, A300B4-600, A300C4 and A300F4-203. A300-600 was more spacious than its predecessors. The variants are A300-620C, A300-600F, A300-600R, A300-600RF and A300-600ST.A300B10 is another variant.
