Boeing and Airbus are the names of the companies manufacturing commercial flights for various airlines in the world. While Boeing has its headquarters at Chicago in the State of Illinois, United States, Airbus has its headquarters at Toulouse, France. While Boeing came into existence in the year 1916, Airbus dates back to 1970 as Airbus Industries. The name was changed to Airbus S.A.S in the year 2001 and enlisted as a joint sock company under the French law. Boeing and Airbus, both the companies are rivals of each other in receiving orders from various airlines.
Boeing has earned the reputation of being the largest global aircraft manufacturer in terms of revenue and the company ranks second in terms of defense contractor of the world. In the year 2006, the company could bag 55% of the total global commercial aircraft orders. Boeing has also considerably shaped the economy of United States by being the largest exporter in United States. Set up in 1916, the company was able to launch world's first pressurized-cabin transport aircraft which had the capacity to fly above most weather disturbances, which is above 19,000 feet in the year 1938. with the end of World War II and the onset of Cold War Boeing received a new lease of life as it cold now use its latest technology to manufacture short range missiles. In the year 1958 Boeing launched 707, first commercial jet airliner in United States.

On the other hand, Airbus is a joint stock company held by EADS and BAE Systems which are the two largest defense contractors of Europe. Airbus faces stiff competition from Boeing. Both the manufacturers present the airlines companies with models a bit smaller or larger than the other in order to receive more orders than the other. But Airbus being a younger company than Boeing deserves special mention in competing with the world leader in aircraft manufacturing industry.
