The Boeing Company is one of the major aerospace and defense organization that was originally founded by William Boeing. The aircraft manufactured by this company is called the Boeing plane. The international headquarter of Boeing plane is situated in Chicago, Illinois. Boeing is the biggest global aircraft manufacturing company in terms of revenue collected and the second largest in terms of deliveries and defense contractor Boeing has long been one of the world's largest civil aircraft making companies. In 2006 the company received 55% of global commercial Boeing plane orders for the first time since 2000. The company is the largest exporter of aircrafts in the United States. The stock of Boeing is a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average.
William E. Boeing made Boeing operational in Seattle, Washington on July 15, 1916 as the "Pacific Aero Products Co." The company flew its maiden flight in June 15 of one of the two "B&W" seaplanes built with a little help from George Conrad Westervelt, the U.S. Navy engineer. On May 9, 1917, the company was transformed into a "Boeing Airplane Company" that started manufacturing Boeing plane.William E. Boeing had studied at Yale University initially in the timber industry, where he managed to earn a good fortune. There he acquired knowledge about wooden structures and made worthwhile use of it in his subsequent design and assembly of Boeing plane.

The model of Boeing's first plane was the B&W at Future of Flight Museum. Boeing created an airline named Boeing Air Transport, in 1927. Gradually this new company got merged with Pacific Air Transport and together started manufacturing Boeing plane.In 1929, the Boeing Company changed its name to United Aircraft and Transport Corporation and got hold of Pratt & Whitney, Hamilton Standard Propeller Company, and Chance Vought United.Then Boeing Plane Company acquired National Air Transport in 1930. The Air Mail Act of 1934 restrained airlines and aircraft-manufacturers from remaining under the same roof and the company split into three smaller sister concerns, viz. Boeing Airplane Company, United Airlines, and United Aircraft Corporation.
