Located just at the intersection point of Western Asia and eastern Europe, Azerbaijan or the Republic of Azerbaijan is the largest and the most populous country in the Southern part of Caucasus region of Eurasia. The geographical location of Azerbaijan is unique. The country shares its borders with the Armenia in the West, Iran to the South, Georgia in the Northwest, Russia in the North and to its east lies the Caspian Sea. The Azerbaijani exclave of Nakhchivan is surrounded by Armenia to its North and East, by Iran to its South and West and Turkey to its Northwest. Located in the Southwestern part of Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh and seven other administrative districts are under the control of Armenia since the year 1994 after Nagorno-karabakh War came to an end. The geographical area of Azerbaijan also includes several islands that are floating on the Caspian Sea. It is also important to mention that among the three Transcaucasian countries, Azerbaijan has got the largest land area.
