| The history of Bhutan is quite interesting. Located right in between India and China, Bhutan or the Kingdom of Bhutan is known to its people as Druk Yul, which means the land of thunder dragons. In its past, Bhutan was also known in names like Lho Mon, which means Southern land of darkness, Lohmen Khazhi (Southern land of four approaches) and Lho Tsedenjong (Southern land of the Tsenden cypress. Though the origin of the name 'Bhutan' is still unknown, historians believe that the name might have originated from Sanskrit words Bhota-ant which means the end of Bhot.

Bhutan or the Kingdom of Bhutan is an isolated and one of the most developed nations in the world. The economy of Bhutan is quite weak and is dependent mainly on its agricultural products and jewelries.
