Royal Brunei Airlines

The Royal Brunei Airlines also known as RBA is the flag carrier airline of Brunei and is completely government owned. This national airline of Brunei was established in 1974 on 18th November. The years 1976 and 1977 witnessed route expansion to Manila, Philippines, and Bangkok, Thailand. Following Brunei's independence from United Kingdom on January 1, 1984 the Royal Brunei Airlines started expanding to the destinations of Jakarta, and Indonesia, linking Brunei to the remaining 5 capital cities of ASEAN. Since 1990s Royal Brunei had been giving services to London Gatwick Airport through Singapore and Dubai and its services were shifted to London Heathrow Airport in the year 1991.

The following years saw rapid expansion on the part of the aviation company of Royal Brunei Airlines and since 1993 flights routes to Abu Dhabi got added with the network of Frankfurt and Jeddah routes.The other routes that were added comprised of Bali, Zürich, and Bahrain including the destinations of Beijing, China, Cairo, Egypt, and India with the inclusion of Kolkata or Calcutta.
In the following years the routes of Kuwait, Auckland, Tokyo, Ho Chi Minh City, Sydney and Seoul were also added to the regular routes of flights operations and to add to the conveniences of the passengers in the following years, online booking facilities also started. Royal Brunei took to restructuring in 2003 and the number of fleets was increased from 9 aircrafts to 24 aircraft while the 6 Boeing fleets of 767 got transformed to 15 narrow-bodied aircrafts including 8 wide-bodied aircrafts.

The major destinations of operations for Royal Brunei Airlines comprise of China-Hong Kong (Hong Kong International Airport) in the East Asia. The Southeast Asian destinations are Brunei, Bandar Seri Begawan (Brunei International Airport), Indonesia- Jakarta (Soekarno-Hatta International Airport), Singapore (Singapore Changi Airport), Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi International Airport), Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat International Airport). The Southwest Asian features the countries of Jeddah (King Abdul Aziz International Airport), Dubai (Dubai International Airport). The European destinations served by Royal Brunei Airlines comprise of United Kingdom- London (London Heathrow Airport) and lastly the destinations of Oceania features Australia- Brisbane (Brisbane Airport), Darwin (Darwin International Airport), Perth (Perth Airport) and Sydney (Kingsford Smith International Airport).
