Malaysia Airlines |
The Malaysia Airlines happens to be the national airlines of the country of Malaysia. The Malaysia Airlines operates a number of flights in Malaysia as well as many cities all over the world, across 100 major cities. One of the facts about Malaysia Airlines is that that the airlines operate both charter services as well as domestic network. The main base of the Malaysia Airlines is the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. The regional hubs of the Malaysia Airlines are the Kota Kinabalu International Airport, Kuching International Airport and the Penang International Airport.
The Malaysia airlines is amongst the six airlines of the world which have got the prestigious award that is the 5-star rating by Skytrax. The others in the list are the Asiana Airlines, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, Kingfisher Airlines and Singapore Airlines.
| The IATA has accredited the Malaysia Airlines and the operational safety practices are taken care of by the Operational Safety Audit. The Imperial Airways and the Liverpool-based Singaporean Steamshipping Company had come up to the colonial governments in Singapore and Penang about establishing a scheduled flight service, which will operate between these two cities. The Malayan Airways Limited (MAL) was established but was boarded by the passengers for the first time only 10 years later on February 2nd in the year 1947.

The inaugural flight had only 5 passengers on board but it flew from Kuala Lumpur instead of flying to Penang. The same year, MAL started operating a flight network with Jakarta, Palembang, Medan and Saigon.
In the year 1957, the Malaysia airlines emerged into a stock corporation that was run by the state completely. In the year 1960, the airline launched its first ever long-haul international flight to the city of Hong Kong and this was done after the delivery of an 84-seat Bristol Britannia. Once Malaysia was formed the airlines changed their name to Malaysian Airways Limited and that was in the month of November in the year 1963. After Singapore was separated from the Federation of Malaysia in 1965, the governments of Singapore and Malaysia loosened up much of their holds from the BOAC and the other shareholders and then it was renamed as the Malaysia-Singapore Airlines.
20 years hence, in the year 1971 the company split into two forming Malaysian Airline System (MAS) and Singapore Airlines. In 1972 MAS was operating a network of flights with 34 regional destinations and had as many as six international services to its credit. On 15 October in the year 1987, the trade name of the company was changed into Malaysia Airlines.
