Miat Mongolian Airlines

The Miat Mongolian Airlines is one airline service that operates flights in Mongolia. The Miat Mongolian Airlines happens to be the national airline of the country. The airline is situated in the capital city of Mongolia, which is Ulan Bator. One of the most important things to note about Miat Mongolian Airlines is that it operates via two networks. One is the domestic route network and the other one is the international route network. The scheduled services of the flights mainly function from the main air base that is the Chinggis Khaan International Airport. The term "MIAT" is an abbreviation of Mongolyn Irgenii Agaaryn Teever (Mongolian Civil Air Transport).

The Miat Mongolian Airlines dates back to the year 1956 when it was formed. The Miat Mongolian Airlines is known by several names.
The airport is many a time called as the Air Mongol and sometimes even as the Mongolian Airlines. The airline was started with much assistance from Aeroflot and they triggered on 7 July 1956. The first flight operation was from Ulan Bator to Irkutsk using an Antonov An-2 aircraft. The airlines had also used the Soviet-built DC-3s (Li-2s) for conducting flights to the international countries that included Beijing and Moscow.

In the 1960s and the 1970s the Miat Mongolian Airlines mainly operated flights with the Antonov An-24 and the twin turboprops. They also used the commuter airliner Chinese Yunshuji Y-12. The Tupolev Tu-154 jets came into the scenario in the 1970s. The MIAT finally acquired a Boeing 727-200 jet by the year 1992 from the Korean Air and there followed another in the year 1994. Later the Boeing 727 jets were discharged. Later a Boeing 737 and an Airbus A310 were also added to the aircrafts list in the MIAT.

The MIAT Mongolian Airlines is completely owned by the state and has over 1034 employees working in the company. The airport operates flights to the domestic cities like Altai, Arvaikheer, Dalanzadgad, Khovd, Khatgal, Mörön, and Ulan Bator. The international flights are operated to the cities of Nagoya, Osaka, Tokyo, South Korea, Seoul Russia, Moscow, Irkutsk, Beijing, and Berlin. The variety of aircrafts that have been used are the Antonov An-2, Ilyushin Il-14, Tupolev Tu-154, Mi-8, Boeing 727-200 and Boeing 767-300. The main hub of the MIAT Mongolian Airlines is the Chinggis Khaan International Airport. The MIAT Mongolian Airlines is known for its good flight services with right schedules.
