The Royal Nepal Airlines also called the Nepal Airlines was founded in the month of July in the year 1958. The Royal Nepal Airlines has its hub in the Tribhuvan International Airport. It has also got a secondary hub at the Pokhara Airport. The Fleet size of the airline company is 10 and it operates flights to Nepal as well as flights worldwide. The Royal Nepal Airlines operates flights to a total of 38 destinations, 8 of which are international flights. The parent company of the Royal Nepal Airlines is the Government Of Nepal. The main headquarters of the Royal Nepal Airlines is at the capital city of Nepal - Kathmandu.
The Nepal Airlines is the airline which is owned by the government and is also the national flag-carrier airline. The main base of the airline is in the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
| The Royal Nepal Airlines was established as the Nepal Airlines Corporation (RNAC) and that time it owned one Douglas DC-3. In the beginning the flight services that were offered by the Royal Nepal Airlines were quite limited. The services were only offered to Simara, Biratnagar, Pokhara and some of the cities in India like Calcutta, Delhi and Patna. But within few days a turboprop Fokker F27 was included in the fleet of the airline.

In the year 1970, Pilatus Porter and Twin Otter aircrafts were added in the fleet. These aircrafts allowed access to the remotest and mountainous regions of Nepal. After the runway of Kathmandu was extended in the year 1972, the RNA included a Boeing 727 and Hawker Siddeley HS-748. Later the Boeing 727s was replaced with Boeing 757. For various political issues, the word Royal was finally dropped from the name of the airline and is officially known as the Nepal Airlines since 2006. Some of the domestic destinations that the Royal Nepal Airlines conducts flights to are Bajhang, Bhairahawa, Bharatpur, Biratnagar, Bhojpur, Dang, Nepal, Jomsom, Lukla and Pokhara. There are international flights to Hong Kong, Osaka, Shanghai, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Delhi and Dubai.
On 5 November 1960 a RNA Douglas C-47A-80-DL (9N-AAD) crashed just on take off from Bhairawa Airport. On 1 August 1962 a RNA Douglas C-47A-DL (9N-AAH) crashed enroute Kathmandu to New Delhi. On 12 July 1969 a RNA Douglas DC-3D (9N-AAP) crashed into a tree. There have been other mishaps in the year 1970, 1973, 1984, 1991, 1992, 1995 and 1996.
