The credit for the foundation of the airline goes to two pilots, Pirlot de Corbion and Dessain. They founded the company as one which offered air taxi services to the clients. The company started its operations with the aircrafts Beechcraft Queen Air and Gardan Horizon. The EAT also founded a pilot training school in the country of Belgium. In the year 1985 the airline entered into a major deal with DHL Worldwide Express. The company became the member of the IATA in 1993. More than 5000 employees are under the payrolls of the company.

The EAT operates cargo flights to more than 56 countries located in different parts of the world. The services of the airlines are offered in the European, Middle Eastern and African countries. The Brussels Airport is currently the major hub of the airline company. But there are plans to shift the major hub of the airline to the Leipzig/ Halle Airport which is located in the country of Germany. But the massive operations of the EAT in the city of Brussels is going to continue with no changes.

The total fleet size of the EAT is 25. It includes 16 Airbus A300B4-200F, Boeing 757-200PF and 10 Boeing 757-200SF aircrafts. The fleet of the European Air Transport is mainly used to serve the interests of the DHL Worldwide Express. The DHL Worldwide Express is the most important client which the airline company of EAT has.

The European Air Transport is currently fully owned by DHL Worldwide Express. For serving the interests of DHL, the EAT also avails the fleet services of some of the other airlines. The company also offers its charter cargo flight services to other airlines like Royal Air Maroc.
