Deutsche BA Luftfahrtgesellschaft GmbH

Deutsche BA Luftfahrtgesellschaft GmbH is a low fare airline that has its base in Munich at Germany. It operates regular scheduled international and domestic flights as well as charter service to North America and Europe meant for the tour operators. The primary base of Deutsche BA Luftfahrtgesellschaft GmbH is the Munich International Airport. Air Berlin took over this airline on the month of August in 2006 but till now Deutsche BA Luftfahrtgesellschaft GmbH operates its flights independently.

Deutsche BA Luftfahrtgesellschaft GmbH was founded in March 1992 and began operating in 1992 June. It was launched with the purchase of a 49% share by British Airways of a regional German airline, the Delta Air. British Airways changed the name of Delta Air to Deutsche BA. After relaxation of the air traffic market of Europe in April 1997 British Airways bought the outstanding shares of Delta Air. Carl Michel was appointed as the CEO of the airline who reorganized the fleet to be comprised of 18 aircrafts of Boeing 737-300 and eliminated the secondary routes to focus on only the German routes, services to other partners of the Oneworld alliance and feeder services for Gatwick.

In May 2000 Bob Ayling replaced Chief Executive of British Airways Rod Eddington and began serious inspection of the operations of Deutsche BA Luftfahrtgesellschaft GmbH. The primary hints of it arrived in 2001 and by this year the total losses run by Deutsche BA was more than 15 million British pounds. On the 3rd of May in 2002 an announcement of the intention to buy Go, the previous subsidiary of British Airways, was made by easyJet. Another announcement of easyJet on the 8th of May in 2000 was made to publicize that a special agreement had been signed by easyJet with British Airways for availing an option of buying Deutsche BA.

Before Deutsche BA Luftfahrtgesellschaft GmbH was actually going to buy it, it was remain under the control of British Airways only. But in 2003 March easyJet declared that it had discarded its plans of purchasing Deutsche BA.

British Airways publicized its plans to put Deutsche BA on the market for Intro Verwaltungsgesellschaft in June 2003 for an amount of only 1 Euro. It further declared about the investment of 25 million British pounds into Deutsche BA Luftfahrtgesellschaft GmbH for securing 16 Boeing 737s as its fleet for one year. For this British Airways would get 25% of profits from a deal until the month of June in 2006. On the 17th of February in 2006 dba declared that it had acquired 60% share of LTU. 24% of this airline's share was acquired by Jurgen Marbach, the managing director of LTU in the same year. Lutz Helmig bought a 25.1% share of Deutsche BA and on the 17th of August in 2006 the take over of 100% share of dba by Air Berlin was publicized and this take over was cleared by the German Federal Cartel office on the 6th of September in 2006.
