Siberia Airlines |
The
Siberia Airlines was established in the year 1992 in
Ob, a town situated near Novosibirsk. This town is
adorned with the Novosibirsk's airport Tolmachevo (OVB).
The "S7 Airlines" or the Siberia Airlines is
the brand of Aviakompanija Sibir JSC. It may be noted that
scheduled passenger flights to destinations in Russia and CIS
is operated from this particular base. The international services to
the different destinations like China, Germany, Israel, Japan,
South Korea, Turkey and United Arab Emirates also needs
mention regarding the service provided by the Siberia Airlines.
The base and the major hubs are Domodedovo International Airport,
Moscow and Tolmachevo Airport (OVB) and Novosibirsk.
There is another hub located further enough and this is called the
Irkutsk International Airport (IKT), Irkutsk.
One
of the interesting aspects related with the Siberia Airlines
is that it is the successor of former Tolmachevo United Avia
Squadron, which was previously the local subsidiary of Aeroflot.
Way back in the year 1957, Tolmachevo United Avia Squadron
was established and the first flight took off from Moscow and
landed at Novosibirsk. The first international flight took of
1991 from Russia and landed at Harbin, China and
this incident took place in the year 1991.The Siberia
Airlines joined IATA in the year 1994. It was also
in that year that the airlines opened a joint stock company along
which started the first international route (as Siberia Airlines)
from Novosibirsk to Frankfurt, Germany.
| In
the first half of the 90s, the Siberia Airlines was a
medium-size regional airline and had nothing special except for the
fact that it was created from the former Aeroflot. The main
focus was basically on domestic flights from Novosibirsk.
However by the close of the decade due to the aggressive strategy and
the expansion of the Siberia Airlines, it caught the
imagination of many including the Russian domestic market.

A series
of merger have contributed to the growth of the Siberia Airlines.
The mergers with the smaller regional airlines in the initial years
helped the emergence of the airlines as one of the massive travel
option for thousands of travelers flying cross continental.
In
1999 it opened its Moscow branch in Vnukovo
International Airport. Following the year 2000, charter
flights programs were also introduced. The company also led to the
development of the hub in Irkutsk. There was even a
confirmation of the airlines of an alliance with the British
Airways in the one world alliance group body. The fleet of the
Siberia Airlines comprises of Airbus A310-200,Airbus
A310-300,Airbus A319-100, Boeing 737-400 among the many more.
