Spanair

Headquartered in Palma de Mallorca in Spain, the Spanair S. A. is a reputed airliner under the aegis of the famous Scandinavian Airlines. The larger functional and administrative wings of the Scandinavian Airlines regulate the operational features of Spanair. The integrated passenger network of Spanair operates in Spain and numerous other countries on the European soil. With the growing popularity of this preeminent airliner, the concerned authority has recently expanded services to West Africa as well, making Spanair one of the most coveted airliner brands in the world.

Spanair also arranges for chartered flights around the world for the leading tour companies. It charges reasonably for such services. Many tour conductors across the world have given a clean cheat to Spanair for their topnotch services at competitive pricing. Majority of the modern airliners these days are trying to capture the international as well as domestic markets through fine services at an affordable rate. This is especially true on the European soil, as there are numerous high-speed railway networks operating over there. Spanair and other airliners have railways as their immediate rival, as far as transportation is concerned.

The chief operating base of Spanair is housed at the Son Sant Joan Airport (PMI). A couple of hubs are at El Prat International Airport (BCN) in Barcelona, Spain and Barajas International Airport (MAD) in Madrid, Spain.

If you want to trace the history of Spanair, you need to date back to the year 1986. Incepted in 1986, Spanair started its fully-fledged operation two years later in March 1988. At the time of inception, Spanair was a part of the joint venture project between Viajes Marsans and SAS. It was the European chartered aircrafts that were incorporated in the maiden run of Spanair.

Three years down the line in 1991, the organization came up with a fleet of long-haul aircrafts to Mexico, the United States of America and the Dominican Republic. The success of these flights encouraged the authority to launch domestic flights across Spain in 1994.

During the latter half of the nineties, Spanair introduced another flee of long haul passenger transportation powered by Boeing 767-300 aircrafts. Flights were flown to Buenos Aires and Washington D. C. to begin with and then the operation was expanded to other top cities in the world. Spanair merged with Star Alliance in 2003 and came to be known as a single entity. Today, it is owned by the SAS Group of companies.

The current fleet of aircrafts operating under Spanair includes Airbus A321-231, Airbus A320-232, Boeing 717-2K9 and McDonnell Douglas MD-82, 83 and 87.
