The history of the Manx Airlines can be traced back to the year 1982. The first flight was JE-601 that was flown by the Bandeirante to Glasgow. In the year 1985, Shorts 360 and the Shorts 330 were employed by the airline. The Short 360 (also SD3-60) is actually a commuter aircraft that was built by Short Brothers of Belfast, Northern Ireland, which falls under the division of Bombardier of Canada. Again it was in he year, 1988, Manx Airlines collected their first BAe ATP whereby the Vickers Viscount was replaced after a long time. Actually the Viscount went on for a period of several Champagne Flights before ultimately posing with the BAe ATP and the BAe 146. With the passage of time, the Manx Airlines came to acquire BAe ATPs, about 17 in number. The Manx Airlines, was successful in acquiring Business Air particularly in the year 1991. It was in the year, 1998, that the airline became part of the BRAL Group.
| It was in the year that the Manx Airlines ceased operations in the year 2002. During the time of the closure, the feet consisted of a total 1 BAe 146, 3 BAe ATP and 1 Jet stream 41. In fact the last flight that was supposed to be flown by BAe 146 G-MIMA, with the destination ranging from London (Gatwick) to Ronaldsway (Isle of Man). Due to surfacing of the technical problems, for immediate relief, a sub-chartered aircraft was brought in for operating the services.

So the ultimate credit besides the honor of operating the last Manx Airlines flight which is JE 818 Birmingham to Ronaldsway, went to the Manx-born pilot Captain Paul Quine who stayed in command of BAe ATP G-MANB. When the BRAL group was arranged and bought for a staggering amount of £72 million by British Airways,the Manx Airlines ceased to exist any longer.
