Trans-Mediterranean Airways is one of the Beirut International Airport based airlines. This airline is the only all cargo carrier of Lebanon. This airway has a very long history of running cargo planes to the different destinations in the world. The experience of Trans-Mediterranean Airways in the field of cargo transportation is almost 57 years old. Trans-Mediterranean Airways has been playing a very important role in developing trade relation of Lebanon with many other countries of the world.
Important events in the history of Trans-Mediterranean Airways:
Trans-Mediterranean Airways started to function as a non-scheduled airline for carrying passengers and also cargo in the year 1953. 6 years later this Lebanese airline got the certificate of the only scheduled airline in Lebanon for carrying cargo. In the year 1961 Trans-Mediterranean Airways opened up its first office in North America. In the year 1966 Trans-Mediterranean Airways entered into the age of jet driven aircraft. In this year this airline in Lebanon leased its first plane B707-320C freighter. In the year 1967 Trans-Mediterranean Airways conducted its first far east scheduled services. The fleet of Trans-Mediterranean Airways then included planes like 1B707-320C, 2 CL-44 2DC4 and 6 DC6.
In the year 1968 Trans-Mediterranean Airways established the longest scheduled air cargo route in the world. By this route Trans-Mediterranean Airways joined Far east, South-East Asia, India, Middle East Europe and United Kingdom. In the year 1976 joined its 2 B747 freighters in its B707 fleet. The service of Trans-Mediterranean Airways was suspended for a certain period due to the Lebanese civil war. Service of Trans-Mediterranean Airways started again from the Beirut International Airport.

In the year 1996 this Lebanese airline went through a massive restructuring programme. 3 years ago Trans-Mediterranean Airways got its new owner. In the year 1996 Trans-Mediterranean Airways increased its total amount of capital. The capital of Trans-Mediterranean Airways was increased. New leaders of this cargo aviation giant was also recruited. All these were done to make the airline more competent in a very competitive market. In the year 1998 Trans-Mediterranean Airways got its new logo. This logo shows the new image of the restructured airline company.

In this year also Trans-Mediterranean Airways started its first flight to the Chinese city Shanghai. In this year Trans-Mediterranean Airways also obtained the much required ISO 9002 certificate for providing very efficient services to the customers.
