Sun Country Airlines is one of the low cost airlines of the United States of America. The airline company was established in the year 1982. Its main hub is Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport and the focus city is Fort Worth International Airport of Dallas.

History of Sun Country Airlines:

Sun Country Airlines came into being when the Braniff International Airways was shut down in the year 1982. A small of group of employee under the leadership of Captain Jim Olsen approached a tour company named MLT Vacations and gave the Boeing 727-200 aircraft for their leisure purpose. The company used to utilize the aircraft for overnight journey.

Then in the year 1982, an agreement was signed between the two groups to start a new airline company. It came to be known as Sun Country Airlines. 51 percent share of the company was owned by MLT Vacations and the remaining share of the company was alloted to the flight attendants and pilots of the company. The original staff of Sun Country Airlines consisted of one office person, three mechanics, sixteen flight attendants and sixteen pilots. At the very beginning the airline company tried every means to lower the costs. All the people helped to clean the exterior and interior of the aircrafts.
It saw gradual expansion during 1980s and the company made steady profit during that time. The company made record profit in the middle half of 1991 and acquired additional aircrafts such as Boeing 727 and DC-10. But during middle of 1990s the company faced a tough time and it was finally closed down on December 8, 2001. The company again regained life force and the "can do" attitude of the company started again. It started to acquire new aircrafts during 2004 and 2005 and started to make profits. On October, 2007 it was announced that Steve Spellman is the COO of the company.
