Peau Vava'u

Operating scheduled domestic flights, Peau Vava'u is an airline of Tonga, which has its base at Nuku'alofa in Tongatapu. The primary base of Peau Vava'u is the Fua'amotu International Airport in Tongatapu whereas its major hubs are at Vava'u International Airport and Lifuka Island Airport. Fua'amotu International Airport is a major international airport of Tonga. It is located on the southern part of the island of Tongatapu within 35 kilometers of Nuku'alofa, the capital city of the Tonga archipelago. Airlines other than Peau Vava'u that operate flights to and from the Fua'amotu International Airport comprise Air New Zealand, Virgin Blue, Air Pacific, Polynesian Airlines and Airlines Tonga. The Lifuka Island Airport, also popular as the Salote Pilolevu, is at Lifuka in Tonga. This airport is also served by Airlines Tonga. The Vava'u International Airport is positioned in Vava'u at Tonga. Flights by Air Fiji are also operated to and from the Vava'u International Airport. Peau Vava'u offers scheduled services to Ha'api, Vava'u and Tongatapu.

Peau Vava'u established its office for operating its flights on the 27th of May 2004 with George Tupou V, who has the 50% ownership of the airline and Mr. Joseph Ramanlal, director and 50% owner of Peau Vava'u. The secretary of the board is Mr. Soane Ramanlal, the CEO of the Shoreline Companies Limited of Tonga. The first flight was operated by Peau Vava'u on the 9th of June in 2004 with a fleet of a Douglas DC-3, which was taken on lease from a company of Christchurch - Pioneer Adventures Ltd. Pionair Adventures Ltd. obtained a Foreign Air Operator Certificate for operating DC-3. Another DC-3 was also acquired by the winter of 2004 with the purchase of both the aircrafts by Peau Vava'u from Pionair Adventures Ltd.
By this time period Peau Vava'u started to develop its fleet and began discussing with Reef Air NZ and the operations of Convair started operating its flights to Ha'apai and Vava'u from the 3rd of May in 2005. Air Chathams, New Zealand was the owner of Convair which is leased by Reef Air and subleased by Peau Vava'u Limited. Fleet of Peau Vava'u comprises two Douglas DC-3s, one BAe Jetstream 41 and one Beechcraft Queen Air.
