The Bahrain International Airport is one of the most prominent airports in Bahrain and this connects the country to the major cities of the world. This is a public airport which is operated by the Civil Aviation Affairs and it serves the country of Bahrain. The Bahrain International Airport which is also one of the most used airports in Bahrain is located in Al Muharraq. Bahrain is a country that is basically an island located in the Persian Gulf is smallest of all the states in Arab. Saudi Arabia is located in the western part of the country and the King Fahd Causeway serves as the connecter between the two countries. Qatar is located in the southern direction across the Gulf of Bahrain.
The Bahrain International Airport which is located in Al Muharraq is basically an island that is located in the northernmost tip of Bahrain which is towards the northern direction of the capital city of Bahrain that is Manama. The airport serves as the main hub for the Gulf Air airlines. A program for expansion and renovation was launched in 2006 which has planned for opening a new multi-storeyed car park. Besides this there are also plans for opening a retail complex which will be located adjacent to the main building of the terminal. The main runway will also be renovated and new state-of-the-art security systems will be implemented and aircraft parking bays will be added. The airport grading exercise of Skytrax awarded a three star rating to the airport besides seven other airports.

The cargo airlines that operate here are Air France Cargo, British Airways Cargo, DHL Cargo, Lufthansa Cargo, Gulf and others. The Sheik Isa Air Base is one of the other airports in Bahrain. The airport spans 665 kmē and is situated on the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia. The Sheik Isa Air Base is situated on the coast of the Persian Gulf which is in the southern part of Bahrain.

The airport is host to the Royal Bahraini Air Force (RBAF) Fighter Wing and its two squadrons.
