Airports in Jordan

The Queen Alia International Airport is amongst the most used airports in Jordan. Jordan is one of the most traveled countries in the Middle East and the Queen Alia International Airport handles much of the air traffic here. The Queen Alia International Airport which is a public airport is operated by the Civil Aviation Authority. The airport located in the city of Amman has two terminals. The airport also serves as the hub of the Royal Jordanian Airlines and is also the national flag carrier. The airport was opened in the year 1983. The airport got its names from Queen Alia who was the third wife of King Hussein of Jordan, who got killed in the plane crash of 1977. This is one of those airports in Jordan which handles a lot of air traffic. The airport offers a lot of facilities like shopping, restaurants and bars, business services, banking services, lounges, medical facilities, transportation, disabled facilities and car parking.

The Marka Airport is amongst the other Jordan airports. Also known as the Marka International Airport, this airport located in the city of Amman is operated by the Civil Aviation Authority. There is only one-terminal in the airport and the airport also served as the home of the Royal Jordanian Airlines. The airport serves as the regional airport with domestic and international flights. The airlines like the Royal Wings, Arab Wings and Jordan Aviation have their hub in this airport. The Marka Airport remains functional 24 hours. The Aqaba Airport which is one of the public airports in Jordan is operated by the Royal Wings. The runway of the airport has one instrument landing system (ILS). The terminal building of the airport is spread on an area of 28,000 sq ft with one departure gate and one baggage room.

There is a separate building in the airport for the General Aviation and there is also the Royal Pavilion which is visited by King Abdullah II. The airport also serves as a gateway for the tourist resorts that are very easily accessible from here and this makes it one of the most used airports in Jordan. Aqaba is amongst the other Jordan airports and it has the capacity to handle even the largest jets. Right from Boeing 747 to Antonov An-124, the airport can handle any kind of aircraft. Photography is not allowed at the Aqaba airport. The airports have made it very easy for the transportation in the country and have led to the smoother flow of tourism and commercial industries in the country.
